Q: How did you get into fashion modeling?

Someone approached me in a shopping centre and said I should join their modeling agency and it pretty much went from there

Q: How was 2010 for you?

2010 started off as a really difficult year for me, I had to make it through some hard obstacles in my life  but it ended up being really good because once I made it through the difficult parts, the rest of the year was really great and I continued to work on my modelling and had some great experiences and worked with some awesome people.  I think those obstacles that I had to overcome made me more determined and want to try harder  to succeed in modelling and everything I do in life, so in the end, it was a good year.

Q: Who inspires you?

My friends and my family inspire me, they each have something that I think is amazing about them and they always cheer me up when I’m feeling down.

Q: Which modern day fashion designers or fashion icons do you look up to?

I really like Sass and Bide’s designs. I feel like everything they put on the runway is something that I would wear or like to wear. I also like Alex Perry’s designs because they’re so feminine and beautiful and I just think that he knows how to flatter and fit the female figure.

Q: Do you prefer to shoot on location or in the studio?

I think they both have their advantages and disadvantages. In the studio because there’s less distractions and you don’t have to deal with the elements or anything unpredictable like that but I think that I get better photos when I’m on location because there’s more inspiration and more things to work with when you’re out on location and I think the emotion you feel when your on location is real.  Also, shooting on location can be uncomfortable sometimes like when its really cold or when the weather isn’t so good and sometimes the locations can be hard to get to but it can also be really fun and exciting. I always enjoy myself no matter where I’m shooting.

Q: How do you prepare for a fashion shoot or show?

I try and drink a lot of water so my skin looks nice and try and get a lot of sleep the night before. I always try to take care of myself and my body so I’m ready when a modelling opportunity comes up.

Q: Who is your favourite photographer?

I really like Rankin’s photographs, he’s photographed all my favourite celebrities and his photographs are always artistic, interesting and different to look at.

Q: Is there anybody you would like to work with?

There isn’t really any one person that I’d like to work with in particular. Whenever an opportunity comes up for me to work with someone I haven’t yet, I’d normally take advantage of it just for the experience and to see what it’s like and to form new relationships with people in the industry which can also lead to new opportunities and jobs.

Q: What does fashion mean to you?

It’s a way someone can express themselves and show their personality through what they wear and how they look in general. I also think that when you wear certain things it can make you feel a certain way.

Q: How would you define your personal style?

I always try and keep it simple and most of the time I like to dress comfortably, especially in winter! I wear jeans and t-shirts a lot and just add a few simple accessories like necklaces, rings or hats. Unless I’m going to a special event or something like that.  But I always like to try new things as well just to see if they’ll suit me.

Q: Where are you based?

Western Sydney, Australia

Q: What’s it like being where you’re from?

Australia is a really great place to live, especially Sydney because there’s so much going on here. Plus it’s a very diverse place, not just with the people and cultures that are here but even with the environment and weather so there are a lot of great and different places to shoot. We have everything here, beautiful beaches, bush and cities.

Q: What’s been the highlight of your career to date?

I think the first time I saw my picture in a magazine was a real highlight for me. It was so exciting to see and it made me really happy to think that people wanted to see my photo.

Q: What are you hoping to achieve in 2011?

I’m hoping to get a lot more modeling jobs and experience and to just keep improving on my modelling and building my portfolio.

Q: What do you do to relax?

Stay at home in my pj’s and watch funny DVD’s, I think spending time somewhere quiet by myself helps me relax and unwind and I think it’s really important to have time for yourself every now and again and to just do nothing sometimes.

Q: What songs are on your ipod at the moment?

A lot of house, dance and electro music like Hed Kandi, Ministry of Sound, also some old school RnB/funk. I like listening to anything thats up -beat and happy or anything I can dance to and sing along with!!

Q: Do you have interesting hobbies?

I like drawing and painting sometimes, I think it can be really relaxing and therapeutic.

Q: If you could give a little piece of advice for new models or aspiring models what would it be?

Just to be persistent and even if you get rejected from jobs, which you will, just move on and keep going to castings and keep trying.  You might not be right for one job but you might be perfect for another job and just to stay positive.

Q: What motivates you to do what you do?

I think that making goals for myself and thinking about accomplishing those goals and the end product/results is what motivates me and just keeping in mind that all the hard work I put in will pay off eventually. Also, my friends and family help keep me motivated.

Q: Is there anything else you’d like to let our readers know about?

I’m half Filipino and half Spanish and  I have a really big and close knit family on both sides and I love spending time with them because we all get along and always have fun together.
