Q: How has the last 12 months been for you?
Within the last 12 months I have basically been building up my name and business in the industry.
Q: Who inspires you?
I am very inspired but simply creating something new that hasn’t been done before or may be a little shocking. This may not necessarily be something fashionable or beautiful. Usually I will take inspiration from everything around me, personal experiences and feelings. It will give me an idea that I can’t stop thinking about and I have to create something!
Q: Which modern day fashion designers or fashion icons do you look up to?
Versace is a personal favorite of mine as I feel they always have been a leader in the industry and they are always bringing something new with keeping a little bit of Gianni’s original flavour.
Q: Who is your favourite photographer?
I love anything my David LaChapelle.
Q: Is there anybody you would like to work with?
I would love the chance to one day have my work featured in Vogue magazine as I feel that it would be the highest honor possible in makeup artistry.

Q: What does fashion mean to you?
Fashion to me is creating and setting trends. Not following trends.
Q: How would you define your personal style?
My own personal style would have to be a mixture of bright colours and a lot of white.
As a creative person, what are some other creative things you like to do?
I am really always creating something, I sometimes paint, make or alter clothing, make jewellery, and I also enjoy interior design. Give me anything creative and I will enjoy it.
Do you see yourself someday creating your own line of makeup?
Definitely having been trained in beauty related science a cosmetic chemistry this is definitely something I am interested in.
What is the most important beauty advice that you can give to women?
The best advice I can give women and anyone for that matter is to simply take an extra 5 minutes in the morning getting ready, everybody has the time its just a matter of having a bit of pride in your appearance and being on the right track to self confidence and feeling great.
Another thing would be to not follow the trends of what everyone else is doing, create something interesting for yourself.

What’s your favourite makeup product that you are never without on a shoot?
My absolute favorite that I use on every single photo shoot is actually quite cheap! It’s from the face shop from the colour nuance range and it is their highlighter shimmer shadow. This is great to highlight the high points of your face like your cheekbones and browbone, also it will give an all around healthy glow.
What is the skin prep process prior to makeup?
Having a great makeup look has to begin with a great blank canvass so keeping your skin healthy with regular exfoliating and hydrating masks creates a smooth surface to create a strong base to makeup. Before I apply I like to use a foundation and eye shadow primer to assure I have a lasting application.
Q: Where are you based?
Melbourne, Victoria.
Q: What’s it like being where you’re from?
I love Melbourne because I truly believe it is the fashion capital of Australia and I feel like there is a lot of opportunity in my industry here.
Q: What’s been the highlight of your career to date?
Simply being recognized for my talents and gaining respect for this.

Q: What are you hoping to achieve in the future?
I am hoping to grow Simon Bull Makeup Artistry (SBMA) into a well known name and I aim to open a Studio in a few years time in which I will perform classes and perform makeup and hair for clients, photo shoots, consultations etc.
I always put 110% into everything I do and believe that in the future the hard work begin to show great rewards and advantages.
Q: What do you do to relax?
I am not a very relaxed person because usually I like to always be doing something, however when it does come the time to wind down I like to get away somewhere quiet and take some time just for me and occasionally live without working.
Q: Where would your favourite holiday (vacation) be and why?
I am dreaming of a day when I can head to Bora Bora and lie on the pure white sands looking at the turquoise water, it looks really beautiful there.
Q: What songs are on your iPod at the moment?
Lady Gaga, No Doubt, Pink, Lenny Kravitz, Beyonce, Kate Bush.
Q: Do you have any interesting hobbies?
It may really sound cheesy and ridiculous but honestly my work is my hobby and I truly love it.
