Q: Who are you called?
My name is Justin Paul Anastasi.
Q: How did you get into fashion modeling?
Well it was sort of by chance really, I used to work in retail and was approached by an agent whilst I was in Malta.
Q: How was 2010 for you?
2010 was a great year for me, working in fashion in Malta as well as moving out to London to pursue my modeling passion and actually just finished modeling in London Fashion Week.
Q: Who inspires you?
I’m a big fan of Adam Lambert, and I think his story, what he has done in general is very inspiring, as well as his sense of style.
Q: Which modern day fashion designers or fashion icons do you look up to?
Alexander McQueen for me is very inspirational; it’s always been a very fashion forward house, constantly coming up with new concepts that are not only jaw dropping but inspirational.
Q: Do you prefer to shoot on location or in the studio?
There are benefits to both but I do love to shoot on location, I find interacting with other models, animals and objects to be very thought provoking and do really test your skill as a model.
Q: Do you have any interesting stories about a particular photo shoot, or a casting you’d like to share?
So far everything I have experienced has been professional and haven’t had any weird or whacky moments but I can’t wait for my first one ha-ha.
Q: How do you prepare for a fashion shoot or show?
Well for some reason I am always very relaxed when it comes to modeling but normally I do research the brand, what their previous shoots or shows where like so that I can determine what that brand is looking for in terms of representing their product.
Q: Do you have a favourite photograph?
I don’t really have a favourite, I think each photo I have captures a different mood, idea, product or emotion and are all favorites in their own right
Q: Who is your favourite photographer?
James Hickey, always has a way of capturing the moment and the feeling of that particular time.
Q: Is there anybody you would like to work with?
Well I would like to work with high-end magazines and designers and really keep on building my contacts and reputation in the industry.
Q: What does fashion mean to you?
For me, fashion is life. It represents you, your mood, your culture, what your into, fashion is a representation of you and you can tell a lot about a person from what they wear.
Q: How would you define your personal style?
My personal style is very much, earthy, relaxed tones, layered looks, but also like dark looks, complementing colors I love, but over all, comfortable, easy yet sharp and edgy
Q: Where are you based?
At the moment in London
Q: What’s it like being where you’re from?
Well I have lived in Australia, Malta and London, so I am from a few places, I love all of them and feel that each place has played a part in making me who I am, the people, the places, the life, the people.
Q: What’s been the highlight of your career to date?
So far it’s definitely been London Fashion Week!
Q: What are you hoping to achieve in 2011?
I want to do more fashion weeks and am currently getting ready to do Vienna fashion week as well as build on my portfolio in the hopes of working with more designer brands
Q: What do you do to relax?
Normally I listen to music with a good glass of wine and a ciggi ha-ha.
Q: What songs are on your iPod at the moment?
A lot of pop, Lady Gaga, Rock and dance music.
Q: Do you have interesting hobbies?
I like to play basketball where and when I get the time, but I also enjoy horse riding.
Q: If you could give a little piece of advice for new or aspiring models what would it be?
You have to have a tough skin and determination for a start, so you do have to really want it, it’s also about getting the right photos in your portfolio that show you at your best.
Q: What motivates you to do what you do?
For me its all about the clothes, the work it takes to make a piece, what a well designed garment can do and the recognition it brings with it in showing the brands off to the best of my ability.
