Gabriela Georgieva is an established fashion model, originally form Bulgaria but now who currently lives and works in London. At Urbanity Chic we love upcoming creative talent and were therefore keen to share some of Gabriela’s burgeoning portfolio, interests and experiences with you. Read the entire interview below where Gabriela discusses how she got into modeling initially, what her current career highlights have been and where her ideal holiday destination would be.
Q: How did you get into fashion modeling?
I got into modelling for first time, when I was about 16 and was approached on the street by an agent, who wanted me to join her agency. I have done quite a few fashion shows with them and although I enjoyed modelling, decided to focus on my education and after going to university, dropped the modelling for couple of years. After finishing my degree and moving to London later on, I realised I want to give the modelling another go and see where it can take me.
Q: How have the last 12 months been for you?
I had an incredible year, managed to build up my portfolio, to work with very talented photographers, to take part in a number of fashion shows, photo shoots, music videos and a commercial too.
Q. Who inspires you?
I love all the supermodels from the 90’s -- Cindy Crawford, Claudia Schiffer, Elle Macpherson, who all seem to have stopped the time and carry on looking even more incredible.
Which modern day fashion designers or fashion icons do you look up to?
Stella McCartney, Alexander McQueen, Vivienne Westwood for their creativity and inspiration.
Q. Do you prefer to shoot on location or studio?
I enjoy both, but studio is more controlled in terms of lighting, so might work better in a way.
Q. How do you prepare for a fashion shoot or show?
I just make sure I have exercised during the day and I have a good rest and plenty of sleep the night before.
Q: Do you have a favourite photograph?
Not really, it is difficult to pick just one.
Q: Who is your favourite photographer?
I have worked with some very talented photographers, but looking forward to work with the big names in the industry.
Q: Is there anybody you would like to work with?
I will be happy to work with more professional photographers, fashion designers, magazine editors, who can feature me in their campaigns.
Q: What does fashion mean to you?
It is a huge part of my life. It represents my personality through the way I dress. But I am not obsessed with trends and labels, I can wear anything that fits me and looks well on me.
Q: How would you define your personal style?
My style changes and depends from the way I feel. I love feminine and sexy dresses, but also skinny jeans and simple tops, combined with leather jackets.
Q: Where are you based?
I am currently based in London, but love travelling and Asia and America are on my must-visit list.
Q: What’s it like being where you’re from?
I am originally from Bulgaria, a lovely country in Eastern Europe, a small piece of paradise with warm turquoise sea and majestic snow-topped mountains.
Q: What’s been the highlight of your career to date?
I hope there will be many more to come, but so far must be a TV commercial for B&B hotels, which was featured in Germany.
Q. What are you hoping to achieve in the next 12 months?
I hope to go further with my modelling, to get more publications and commercial work, to travel to other countries.
Q: What do you do to relax?
Meeting up with friends, trips away, exploring new places, keeping fit in the gym, dancing.
Q: Where would your favourite holiday (vacation) be and why?
Anywhere warm and tropical. Love the sun, I am a summer babe.
Q. What songs are you listening to at the moment?
Boomerang -- Nicole Scherzinger
Trouble -- Tailor Swift
Girl on Fire -- Alicia Keys
Learn to Love Again -- Lawson
Q: If you could give a little piece of advice for new or aspiring models what would it be?
Never give up! Follow your dream and don’t take rejections personally.
Q: What motivates you to do what you do?
Modelling is my passion, I love doing it and every new assignment motivates me to go further.
Q: Is there anything else you’d like to let our readers know about?
Anyone is welcome to contact me.
