Q: How did you get into fashion modeling?

My best friend was actually the one who wanted to be a model all our lives and one day she told me that I should try it because I had a different look. I wasn’t really serious about being a model, I had went to school and gotten a degree and was an accountant but I’m always up for trying new things so I gave it a shot. I was surprised how hard it is being in front of the camera as opposed to just flipping through a magazine. The end product made me want to keep working at it and so I fell in love with the industry from then on.

Q: How have the last 12 months been for you?

I have only been modeling since 2010 so the last year has been different for me. I enjoyed the work I had put in but when people started complementing me and my work it made me feel good about my decisions. Over the past year I have become a Ggurl, a Miller Lite promo model, as well as featured with many modeling sites. I am always flattered at feedback and I have taken the positive and the negative and bettered myself.

Q: Who inspires you?

My mother, who is my rock, inspires me. She is a strong woman who has never let any barrier stop her from succeeding.

Q: Which modern day fashion designers or fashion icons do you look up to?

Vera Wang is my favorite designer and I look up to Tyra obviously, because she proves that you can be pretty and smart, which is what I’m trying to prove too.

Q: Do you prefer to shoot on location or in the studio?

I’m a very adventurous person so locations are great but there are always more problems, especially if weather acts up.

Q: Do you have any interesting stories about a particular photo shoot, or a casting you’d like to share?

My most memorable shoot was in the water. The theme was baptism and I had to lie in the water and have half my face out of the water which was so hard and uncomfortable. I was hesitant about the outcome but the results were so awesome!

Q: How do you prepare for a fashion shoot or show?

A few weeks before I like to get in some good workouts so that my body is tightened but I love the jobs I do and I am always ready to create something new.

Q: Do you have a favorite photograph?

Probably the shoot I did recently with lingerie, it was more sexy than what I had been doing and I’m glad I could pull off being sexy but not raunchy.

Q: Who is your favourite photographer?

IEC Studios is my favorite photographer right now.

Q: Is there anybody you would like to work with?

I am aiming to work with Facet Studios, I have seen a lot of his work and I’m always surprised!

Q: What does fashion mean to you?

Fashion to me is a self-expression. I think that fashion comes in so many forms and that will never change. If you wear something that you feel good in you need to work that. It could be the ugliest outfit but if you are confident, people won’t even notice.

Q: How would you define your personal style?

My style is glam; I like to be comfortable yet sexy. I usually can turn heads.

Q: Where are you based?

I’m originally from Green Bay but I now represent Austin Texas.

Q: What’s it like being where you’re from?

Austin is a great place to live. I’ve lived here a few years and I have never regretted that decision. There is always something to do and great people around.

Q: What’s been the highlight of your career to date?

I was contacted to work with Gentlemen VIP Magazine which was amazing! I have been featured with them as well as Rmoi Men’s Magazine.

Q: What are you hoping to achieve over the next 12 months?

I want to start landing accounts with some more magazines, I’m dream would be SHOW Magazine. I’m also looking to get my Graphic Design Business off the ground as well as getting into more acting.

Q: What do you do to relax?

My friends and my God Daughter relax me. There is just something about being surrounded by loved ones that eases my mind. I’ve learned that life can’t be strictly planned so you just have to enjoy your time as it comes.

Q: Where would your favourite holiday (vacation) be and why?

I would love to go somewhere exotic like Morocco or Barcelona. I love trying new things and those places are so far from what I’m used to.

Q: What songs are on your iPod at the moment?

I’m into a lot of old School music, mainly right now Old School Hip Hop ~ Ice Cube, Public Enemy, Pete Rock, and 2 Live Crew, to name a few.

Q: Do you have any interesting hobbies?

I love music because no matter what issues are going on, music eases your mind; I love dance and my graphic design!

Q: If you could give a little piece of advice for new or aspiring models what would it be?

If you want to be a model one of the main issues is exposure. You can’t just rely on people to notice you and offer you a contract of a magazine cover. Aspiring models ask me every week what they should do. I usually tell them to put their name out there. When I first started I went out to get noticed, promote myself, and put my name out there. I can’t depend on others so I make sure I control where my image is portrayed and how! New models need to get on modeling sites, like Modelsondeck, modelturf, and so on, and network with other photographers and models.

Q: What motivates you to do what you do?

My motivation is myself. I want the best for myself and I want to be happy; also I want to show other women and girls that size doesn’t have to be an issue to be a model and those models are more than a pretty face. Most of the models I’ve met have more going for them than just looks.
